Memory Documentation

Looking to set up your site using Memory? This document will walk you through the process.

#Installation

Installing Memory is super easy. Just upload the .zip file and follow the installation wizard. Here is the video tutorial:

If you need more details, we have written a guide on how to download and install a WordPress theme, please follow the instruction in that article.

IMPORTANT:

In order to make the theme works properly, you need to install the Jetpack plugin. Simply go to the Dashboard → Plugins → Add New. The plugin will appear in the list below, click Install Now button to install it.

After activating Jetpack, you need to connect to WordPress.com to use it (it requires you to create an account on wordpress.com – which is free). If you don’t want to create an account on wordpress.com, you can enable the Jetpack development mode.

This video tutorial shows you how to customize the theme with WordPress Customizer. Please take a look at what the options mean and how to use them. For details and explanation of each option, please see the sections below.

#Header Setup

Custom Logo

The theme displays site title and tagline by default. You can also display a custom logo, and optionally hide the site title and tagline.

To add a logo, go to Customize → Site Identity and upload a logo.

You can easily adjust the logo width with a slider.

#Navigation

The main navigation menu appears at the top of every page on your website. On tablet and mobile devices, it will be hidden behind a toggle button. To set it up, create a new custom menu via Customize → Menus and assign it to the Header location.

#Socials Media:

#Background Image

You can change background , go to Customize → Background Image

There are 5 image default or you can upload your custom image

#Featured Content Slider

Slider: ( Customize → Theme Options → Featured Content )

The slider displays posts with tags that you fill in customize

There are 4 slider styles for you to choose.

 

#Header subscription:

Customize → Theme Options → Homepage Settings

#Blog

Customize → Theme Options → Homepage Settings

Blog have 2 style are Grid and List. You can choose the blog style you want. The options for each blog style will be shown right below for easy customization.

With Memory you get three Sidebar options; the right sidebar, left sidebar and an option that disables the sidebar.

You can choose how to display the post content, thumbnails displayed and thumbnails position

You have control to show/hide the category the post, the comment, the publish date, the social buttons and the read more button.

#Socials Media Follower:

Customize → Theme Options → Social Media Settings

How to get Facebook Access Token:

  • Create New App: Go to developers.facebook.com/apps/ then Add a New App
  • Go to your app settings and click “Basic“. Enter your email address, a link to your website terms or privacy policy, and select a category (such as Business and Pages). Then click “Save Changes” at the bottom.
  • Get Token: Goto developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer/ . Choose your app and your fanpage
  • Copy "Access Token" that appears in the bottom, expires after 1-2 hour. You can see the Token's lifetime when clicking on the blue exclamation mark

  • If you want to get a long-lived token(60 days): Click Open in Access Token Tool (Open in Access Code Creation Tool). Scroll down to the bottom, click Extend Access Token (Expanded Access Code)

Footer subscription:

Customize → Theme Options → Footer Settings


You can change background of form subcription.

#Banner Settings

Memory allows you to insert banners. Just go to Customize → Themes Options→ Banner Settings

There are 4 positions for you to insert:

  • Above Topbar
  • Archive Page
  • Above Post and Page Content
  • Below Post and Page Content

Banner type is image or HTML

#Widgets

Memory works nicely with all the available widgets. Simply go to Customize → Widgets → Sidebar and add the widgets you like.

#Profile Info

Customize → Widgets → Sidebar → Text

 

#SlideOut Sidebar

Customize → Widgets → SideOut Sidebar

#Instagram

Memory displays Instagram images in 2 places: slideout sidebar and footer.

To display Instagram images, please install the Smash Balloon Social Photo Feed and connect to your Instagram account.

For the slideout sidebar, go to Instagram Feeds → All Feeds and click the + Add New button to create a new feed. In the feed settings, set the following parameters:

  • Feed layout: set Number of Posts to 9, and columns to 3 for both desktops and mobiles.
  • Disable header, load more button and follow button.

After that, copy the feed shortcode, and go to Appearance→ Widgets, add an Instagram Feed widget to the Sidebar and paste the shortcode into the widget content.

 

For the footer, create another feed, but adjust the settings as follows:

  • Feed layout: set the padding to 0, number of posts to 8 for both desktop and mobile, columns to 8, 4, 2 for desktop, tablet, mobile correspondingly
  • Disable header, load more button and follow button.

Then copy the feed shortcode, and go to Appearance→ Widgets, add an Instagram Feed widget to the Footer and paste the shortcode into the widget content. Don't enter anything for the widget title.

 

 

#Footer

The footer displays the social links menu and credits. If you already assigned a social links menu earlier, you’ll see them here.

#Social Links Menu

The social links menu displayed at Footer and Header. To add social links, create another menu and add links to your social network profiles. Then assign it to the Social Menu location.

Linking to any of the following sites will automatically display its icon in your menu:

#General Settings

Customize → Theme Options → General Settings
You can change site layout, border style, navigation position.

There are 3 searchform styles for you to choose.

 

#Post Settings

Customize → Theme Options → Post Settings
There are 2 post layouts for you to choose.

There are 4 post title position for you to choose.

In a post, we have added functionality to display author info.

You need to fill Biographical Info in your profile to display the author info.

In addition, there are other functions: Post Share. Allows sharing on social networks: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest ...

To show post share widget, you need enable Sharing module Jetpack.

#Featured Image

When editing a post in Memory, add a featured image to each post. The featured image is displayed above the post excerpt on the homepage.

#Color Settings

Memory offers various color options for almost every section of the theme. You can keep a uniform color scheme throughout your website with color options. Below are the options available with Memory theme –
You can find settings under Customize → Theme Options → Color

Main
Main color will set a default color for the site and for all theme elements like button, selected text background color etc.
Text color is applied to the body text of the entire site.

Header Menu

Background color will be applied as a background color to the header menu.
Icon color will set as a default color for all icon on header menu.

Link color will set as a default color for all links on header menu.
Link hover color will apply a link hover color on the header menu.

#Font Settings

Typography plays the most important role in the UX of a website. Therefore, we’ve focused on giving you a number of typography options that will help you customize your fonts using the Memory theme.

You can find settings under Customize → Theme Options → Fonts

Below are the options with Memory Theme.

#Heading 1

You can set the following options for Heading 1 on the entire website.

Font Family

Memory allows you to use System Fonts, Google Fonts on your site. You can easily include Custom Fonts with Memory without adding a single line of code.

Along with the Font Family, you can set following options for Heading 1 on the entire website.

  • Font Style
  • Font Size
  • Line Height
  • Letter Spacing
  • Text Transform

#Customization

We recommend using a child theme to customize the theme. Here is the guide how to do that.

In addition, you can customize the theme CSS by going to Customize → Additional CSS.
